Moving Out of Your Cathays House Share? Your Deposit-Saving Checklist

Moving out of a shared student house in Cathays can be a hectic experience. With exams finishing, packing boxes, and coordinating lease handovers, it is easy to overlook small details that landlords use to deduct from your tenancy deposit. Performing a thorough deep clean and clearing all personal items is essential. Hefted is an on-demand removals platform in South Wales designed to help Cardiff students move their belongings safely and cheaply.

Managing Waste and tenancies in Cardiff Student Areas

Cardiff Council enforces strict rules regarding waste disposal during the student moving window. Leaving bags of rubbish on the streets of Cathays or Roath outside your designated collection day can result in heavy fines for you and your housemates. Plan your decluttering weeks before your move-out date. Separate recyclable materials, book a slot at the local recycling centre, or book a Hefted driver to help transport larger household goods or furniture that you wish to donate or dispose of responsibly.

Step-by-Step Cardiff Relocation Checklist

Preparing for your move day is critical for a smooth and affordable relocation. A structured packing and logistics approach ensures your removals van can be loaded and unloaded without delays. Here is our step-by-step checklist:

1. Fill and paint over any small nail holes in bedroom walls.:
2. Defrost the freezer and clean the oven thoroughly to avoid professional cleaning charges.:
3. Take high-resolution, dated photos of every room once it is completely empty.:
4. Take final meter readings for gas, electricity, and water, and submit them to your suppliers.:
5. Return all house keys to the letting agent on Salisbury Road or Crwys Road before 12:00 PM.

How Hefted Calculates Transparent, Minute-by-Minute Pricing

Unlike traditional local removals companies or independent man and van providers in Cardiff, Hefted does not round up your moving duration. Most operators charge a minimum of two hours, or round up a 65-minute move to a full two hours of labor. This outdated pricing model penalizes efficient packing and short distances.

Hefted is built around modern convenience and transparency. Our driver app tracks the exact starting time of loading and the final timestamp of unloading. This live tracking means you pay only for the exact duration of your move. If your relocation in Cardiff takes 42 minutes, you pay only for 42 minutes. There are no hidden travel surcharges, no rounded-up hourly fees, and no surprise add-ons. You get a transparent invoice based entirely on live operational data.

Movers You Can Trust: Our Vetting & Safety Standards

Moving house is not just about logistics; it is about trusting strangers with your valuable possessions. Whether you are moving delicate electronic equipment, university files, or household furniture, safety is our priority. Every single driver on Hefted's platform goes through a strict multi-stage onboarding process to ensure complete peace of mind.

We check and verify every driver's driving history, verify their vehicle safety and roadworthiness certificates, and perform full background checks (including DBS audits). Furthermore, every active booking is covered by comprehensive Goods in Transit insurance and Public Liability policies. This ensures that in the highly unlikely event of damage, your items are fully protected under standard professional terms. Our transparent pricing includes these safety coverages, giving you premium security without the premium cost.
